YOUR ROLE.
Deep’s fleet of crewed and autonomous vessels work in projects across the world collecting hydrographic and geophysical data in various challenging environments. As Deep continues to develop in its field, we are now looking for an experienced and innovative senior geophysicist to join our company.
As a senior geophysicist working within Deep you will be responsible for the processing, reporting and charting of all geophysical project data. This also includes project preparations and data QA/QC.
RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Data Processing: Process sub-bottom profiler data, side scan sonar, and magnetometer data in line with internal procedures and client specifications.
- Independent Handling: Manage all aspects of data processing and interpretation independently.
- Mentorship: Mentor and train co-workers to enhance the skills of the data processing team.
- Interpretation and Reporting: Perform data interpretation, charting, and report writing.
- Project Administration: Handle administrative requirements at the project level.
- Workflow Development: Develop new workflows and improve existing processing workflows for maximum efficiency.
WHO WE LOOK FOR.
We are looking for candidates with excellent analytical abilities, who are able to collaborate with colleagues as part of a (project) team but also feel comfortable working independently without supervision. Core competencies are accuracy, adaptability, teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills. Candidates with a solid understanding of hydrographical data processing will have a significant edge.
WHAT WE ASK.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related Earth Science.
- 5+ years of experience working with shallow geophysical data.
- Experience using Geophysical processing and interpretation software such as Oasis Montaj, Sonarwiz, GeoSuite AllWorks, Innomar ISE2.
- Flexible working hours and willingness to occasionally work on project sites.
- Knowledge of hydrographical data processing is a significant advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Nice to have: Experience with RadexPro, Kingdom, ArcGIS, or QGIS.
